SVG files from design tools carry comments, editor settings, long numbers and spare ids. This tool removes what a browser does not need, so the picture stays the same and the file gets smaller.

Use 2 or 3 decimal places for icons and 1 or 2 for large illustrations.
Keep ids on if your CSS or JavaScript reaches into the SVG.
Smaller SVGs load faster and are easier to inline in HTML.
The after picture on the right should match the before picture on the left.

A small tokenizer reads the markup and removes comments, XML headers, editor-only data, empty groups, unused ids and namespaces. Numbers in paths and attributes are rounded, written without leading zeros and separated by the fewest characters. Colours become their shortest equal form. The result is drawn next to the original and compared on a canvas. Nothing is uploaded.

What are the limits of SVG Optimizer?

Hand-written, safe clean-ups only: it does not merge shapes or rewrite path commands, so savings are smaller than a heavy optimiser on complex art. Always check the preview. Your SVG stays on your device.
