How to use Compress PDF

Choose lossless optimization to preserve page content, or use image mode to adjust scan resolution, JPEG quality and grayscale. Image mode flattens every page and removes text search, forms, links and signatures. Compare actual byte sizes and keep your original.

  1. Choose one unlocked PDF within the size limit.
  2. Choose a mode. For image mode, set quality and resolution and confirm that you want a flattened copy. Select Prepare result.
  3. Compare the displayed original and output sizes, then download the result and inspect it.

A practical example

An already optimized PDF may offer no saving at all. In that case the result message explains the limitation and the download contains the original bytes.

Before you share the result

  • Lossless mode supports up to 200 pages / 20 MB. Image mode supports up to 50 pages, 4 megapixels per page, with output capped at 80 MB.
  • Image mode changes page pixels and removes interactive features. It does not repair files, remove passwords or perform OCR.
  • Rewriting can affect document-level features and signatures. Keep originals when those features matter.

Useful things to know

What are the file limits?

PDF input: 20 MB and up to 200 pages in lossless mode; image mode supports up to 50 pages, 4 megapixels per page, and 80 MB output.

What should I expect from this tool?

Lossless mode preserves page content. Image mode can reduce resolution and JPEG quality but removes text search, forms, links and signatures. Compare actual sizes; the original is retained if no saving is found unless you explicitly keep the converted output.
