How to use Image to WebP
Create WebP files from JPG, PNG, or WebP pictures for modern websites. WebP supports transparency and adjustable lossy quality, with optional downscaling.
- Choose your JPG, PNG, or WebP images.
- Set quality and optionally a maximum width. Leave width blank to keep the source dimensions.
- Convert and compare sizes. Download the images or a ZIP, then check them in your intended application.
A practical example
Convert large website photos to WebP at 80% quality and a 1600-pixel maximum width, then visually compare against the originals.
Before you share the result
- A conversion may increase file size; actual sizes are shown without claiming guaranteed savings.
- Transparency is retained; animation is flattened to a browser-decoded frame.
- If the browser cannot encode WebP, the tool reports an error rather than returning a mislabeled PNG.
Useful things to know
What formats and sizes are supported?
Up to 30 images, 30 MB per file, 80 MB combined, and 40 megapixels per input image. Dedicated format converters accept only their named source format. Exported images are limited to 16 megapixels. Total output is limited to 100 MB. Smaller batches work better on phones.
What should I expect from this tool?
This uses the browser's lossy WebP encoder. Lossless WebP tuning and animated WebP export are not included.
Will the exported image look exactly like the original?
PNG retains the decoded pixels without extra lossy compression; JPEG and WebP use the chosen quality. Metadata and colour profiles are not copied. Colour rendering can vary by browser. Animated images become a browser-decoded still frame. Keep your originals and inspect the downloaded output.
