How to use Passport Photo Maker
Create a free passport-size photo: replace the background, position your face, and export exact pixel sizes or a measured print sheet. Presets distinguish Indian passport, PAN, OCI and visa routes rather than promising one universal size.
- Upload a recent, sharp, front-facing selfie with even lighting, visible eyes and space around your head and shoulders. Background removal starts automatically; its model loads on first use.
- Choose the exact service or a custom size in millimetres or pixels. Drag to position, adjust zoom and lighting conservatively, and refine the background with erase or restore brushes if needed.
- Review the photo and linked official instructions, create a JPEG or print-sheet PDF, and download it. Print PDFs at Actual size / 100%, not Fit to page.
A practical example
The Indian printed-passport preset is 35 × 45 mm and exports 413 × 531 pixels at 300 DPI. PAN’s Protean DSC preset is 25 × 35 mm at 200 DPI with a 20 KB upper limit. Other application routes can differ.

What are the limitations?
This is a photo preparation tool, not a biometric or government approval service. Presets were checked against linked official sources in October 2026; verify the requirements on your application. Passport Seva often takes adult photos at the centre. OCI’s linked FAQ asks for a light background that is not white. Segmentation can miss hair or clothing; review and refine it. No automated face detection, identity checks, head-size certification, face reshaping or approval guarantee. JPEG size fitting keeps pixel dimensions fixed and reports failure if limits cannot be met. Inputs: one JPG/PNG/WebP up to 20 MB and 40 megapixels, reduced to 4 megapixels for working memory. HEIC/animated images are not supported as animations; export a still JPG first.
What should I check before relying on the result?
Keep your original. Inspect recognition, colours, transparency, and dimensions. Automated tools can make mistakes; the preview and editing controls help you review the result.
