How to use PDF to Word

Recover editable words from a text-based PDF as a DOCX document. The tool uses line endings and text positions to build basic paragraphs. It is intended as an editing starting point, not a page-design or exact-layout converter.

  1. Choose one PDF. A document with selectable text is more likely to work than an image-only scan.
  2. Select Convert to Word. The tool extracts available text and writes a DOCX file.
  3. Download the Word document and compare it with the PDF, checking reading order, special characters, headings, and missing text.

A practical example

A straightforward letter may produce useful editable paragraphs. A two-column brochure or table may become lines of text that need substantial manual rearrangement.

Before you share the result

  • Scanned or image-only PDFs need OCR. Export the page to an image and use Image to Word. No-text PDFs display an explanatory error.
  • Simple aligned tables become editable cells. Fonts, pictures, merged cells, complex columns, headers, and exact spacing are not reproduced.
  • Keep the PDF as a reference and review names, dates, and numbers before relying on converted text.
