Find commands for branches, commits, remotes and recovery, with shell quoting and clear consequences.
Use the guide alongside the working tool.
Open Git Command Generator →Search by the job you need
Search undo last commit, delete local branch, stash, rebase or another task. Category and task selectors expose the full catalog. Replace example branch names, paths and revisions before copying. All generation stays in your browser; the tool does not access repositories or execute commands.
Choose the right undo
Soft reset keeps changes staged; mixed reset keeps them in the working tree. Revert creates an inverse commit and is generally preferable for shared history. Hard reset, clean and forced deletion can discard data. Read each warning and inspect your repository before using them.
Shell and repository context matter
Choose Bash/POSIX or PowerShell 7.3+ with modern native argument passing. Windows cmd.exe and older Windows PowerShell are not supported. Arguments are quoted, and paths use literal pathspecs where applicable. Git version, repository state, remote permissions and conflicts still determine whether a command succeeds. No generated command is a guarantee of the intended result in every repository.
