A small dataset to try

Plan,Mobile,Desktop
Starter,30,70
Pro,180,120
Enterprise,120,80

Starter is 30% mobile, while Pro and Enterprise are each 60% mobile. Pro has 300 observations and Enterprise 200, but both percentage stacks have the same length.

When to choose this chart

A 100% stacked chart compares composition when categories have different totals. Every stack spans the same percentage scale, so it answers how the parts are distributed rather than which total is largest.

Prepare and map your fields

Use nonnegative component columns. Each row needs a positive total to form meaningful shares. Keep the original totals in the source table because normalization removes their visual differences.

Select only the components that form each whole.

Check each row total and review any omitted or zero-total categories.

Compare segment shares and include original totals in your accompanying explanation if scale matters.

Read the result correctly

Compare shares on a common 0–100% scale. Equal-looking segments can represent different absolute counts because each category has its own denominator.

A mistake to avoid

The normalization can hide important changes in total volume. Do not describe Pro and Enterprise as equally large simply because their percentage distributions match.

Export and keep your data private

Review the title, units, labels and any omitted-row warnings at the final export size. PNG is a raster image, SVG retains vector chart elements, and PDF embeds a raster image. Save the original table if you may need to revise the mapping.

Data stays in browser memory; no upload, external chart service or AI model. CSV, TSV, semicolon/pipe text, JSON and JSON Lines: 2 MB, 10,000 rows, 24 columns. Charts allow up to eight series; categorical charts 60 groups, lines/scatter/candlesticks 500 rows, pie/donut/waffle 12 categories, radar 3–12 dimensions. Blank/invalid mapped values are omitted and counted. Numeric values use a decimal point; remove currency symbols and grouping separators. Percent strings are treated as displayed numeric values (25% becomes 25). Dates use ISO format. Recommendations check data structure, not meaning or causation. PNG up to 16 MP; SVG stays vector; PDF embeds a high-resolution chart image. Review mappings, ordering, aggregation and labels before sharing.
