Booked,120Enquired is 30% of the initial 1,000 and Booked is 12%. Conversion from Enquired to Booked is 120/300 = 40%, which is a different denominator from the displayed first-stage comparison.
When to choose this chart
A funnel chart compares values at ordered stages of a process, such as visits, enquiries and purchases. It communicates attrition only when the stages describe a compatible population and period.
Prepare and map your fields
Use one stage label and nonnegative counts in the actual process order. The tool retains that order and shows values relative to the first stage. Increasing stages receive a warning rather than an invented explanation.
Check that counts use compatible definitions and do not mix unrelated cohorts.
Map the stage and value columns without sorting stages by size.
Compare both the raw count and its percentage of the first stage.
Read the result correctly
A narrowing funnel suggests smaller counts at later stages, but the graphic alone does not explain why people left or whether they are the same people at each step.
A mistake to avoid
Sorting stages by size destroys the process sequence. A later count larger than an earlier one can indicate different definitions, repeat events or mismatched periods rather than an impossible system.
Export and keep your data private
Review the title, units, labels and any omitted-row warnings at the final export size. PNG is a raster image, SVG retains vector chart elements, and PDF embeds a raster image. Save the original table if you may need to revise the mapping.
Data stays in browser memory; no upload, external chart service or AI model. CSV, TSV, semicolon/pipe text, JSON and JSON Lines: 2 MB, 10,000 rows, 24 columns. Charts allow up to eight series; categorical charts 60 groups, lines/scatter/candlesticks 500 rows, pie/donut/waffle 12 categories, radar 3–12 dimensions. Blank/invalid mapped values are omitted and counted. Numeric values use a decimal point; remove currency symbols and grouping separators. Percent strings are treated as displayed numeric values (25% becomes 25). Dates use ISO format. Recommendations check data structure, not meaning or causation. PNG up to 16 MP; SVG stays vector; PDF embeds a high-resolution chart image. Review mappings, ordering, aggregation and labels before sharing.
