A small dataset to try

Dimension,Prototype A,Prototype B
Clarity,8,6
Speed,6,9
Comfort,9,7
Portability,5,8

If all four dimensions are scored from 0 to 10 with higher being better, A leads on Clarity and Comfort while B leads on Speed and Portability. There is no single winner without a weighting rule.

When to choose this chart

Radar charts compare profiles across a small number of nonnegative dimensions. They work best when every dimension uses a shared, meaningful scale and the order of axes is explained.

Prepare and map your fields

Use 3–12 labeled dimensions and comparable numeric series. Normalize unlike measures before import rather than mixing raw seconds, costs and ratings around the same radial scale.

Map dimensions in a deliberate order and confirm that higher values have a consistent meaning.

Keep profiles and colours limited enough to distinguish the shapes.

Compare individual axes and verify values in the source table rather than ranking profiles by polygon area.

Read the result correctly

A profile's shape emphasizes trade-offs. Reordering the axes changes its shape and apparent area without changing any score.

A mistake to avoid

Polygon area is not an overall performance score. Too many overlapping profiles or unlike scales can make the display attractive but hard to interpret honestly.

Export and keep your data private

Review the title, units, labels and any omitted-row warnings at the final export size. PNG is a raster image, SVG retains vector chart elements, and PDF embeds a raster image. Save the original table if you may need to revise the mapping.

Data stays in browser memory; no upload, external chart service or AI model. CSV, TSV, semicolon/pipe text, JSON and JSON Lines: 2 MB, 10,000 rows, 24 columns. Charts allow up to eight series; categorical charts 60 groups, lines/scatter/candlesticks 500 rows, pie/donut/waffle 12 categories, radar 3–12 dimensions. Blank/invalid mapped values are omitted and counted. Numeric values use a decimal point; remove currency symbols and grouping separators. Percent strings are treated as displayed numeric values (25% becomes 25). Dates use ISO format. Recommendations check data structure, not meaning or causation. PNG up to 16 MP; SVG stays vector; PDF embeds a high-resolution chart image. Review mappings, ordering, aggregation and labels before sharing.
