Jewellery is priced on the pure gold it contains, plus making charges and GST. 24K is pure gold; 22K is 22 parts gold in 24. Enter today's rate and see the full bill, or the value of old gold you exchange.

Making charges and GST add ₹14,630, which is not recovered when you sell, so expect to get back about the gold value only, less the jeweller's deduction.

Pure gold = weight × karat ÷ 24 = 10 g × 22/24 = 9.17 g.
Gold value = pure gold × 24K rate = 9.17 × ₹12,000 = ₹1,10,000.

Look for the BIS hallmark: 916 means 22K, 750 means 18K.
Compare making charges between shops; they vary far more than the gold rate.

Pure gold = weight × karat ÷ 24 (BIS hallmark fineness: 22K = 916, 18K = 750, 14K = 585 are slightly rounded forms of the same ratio). Gold value = pure gold × your 24K rate. GST: a jewellery sale is one supply taxed at 3% on gold and making charges together (GST rates in force since 1 July 2017); 5% applies only to job work on gold you supply. Both rates are editable. Old gold credit = weight × karat ÷ 24 × (1 − deduction) × 24K rate. Tests check a worked example: 10 g of 22K at ₹10,000 per gram of 24K = ₹91,666.67 gold + ₹9,166.67 making + ₹2,750 and ₹275 GST = ₹1,03,858.34.
