How it works

MRR is monthly recurring revenue and ARR is that times twelve. Churn is the share of customers you lose each month. LTV is what an average customer pays you in profit over their life; CAC is what it cost to win them.

LTV:CAC is 3 or more
Each customer is worth at least three times what it cost to win. Many early-stage firms are below this.
Payback within 12 months
You earn back the cost of a customer within a year.

MRR = customers at end × revenue per customer = 1,080 × ₹4,000 = ₹43,20,000; ARR = MRR × 12 = ₹5,18,40,000.
Monthly churn = lost ÷ start = 20 ÷ 1000 = 2%.
LTV = revenue per customer × gross margin ÷ churn = ₹1,60,000.
CAC = spend ÷ new customers = ₹16,000.
LTV:CAC = 10; payback = CAC ÷ (revenue per customer × margin) = 5 months.

Measure churn the same way every month, using customers at the start as the base.
Include salaries of sales and marketing staff in spend for an honest CAC.
Look at trends over several months, not one month.

MRR = customers × average revenue per customer; ARR = 12 × MRR; churn = lost ÷ starting customers; LTV = ARPA × gross margin ÷ churn; CAC = acquisition spend ÷ new customers; payback = CAC ÷ (ARPA × gross margin). Benchmarks follow David Skok, "SaaS Metrics 2.0" (forentrepreneurs.com/saas-metrics-2): LTV:CAC above 3, CAC recovered within 12 months, and net churn above 2% a month a warning sign.
