How it works

Position sizing fixes how much you can lose on a trade before you enter it. You divide the money you are willing to lose by the loss per share at your stop-loss. Risk-reward compares the possible profit with that loss.

Money to risk = account × risk % = ₹5,00,000 × 1% = ₹5,000.00.
Risk per share = |entry − stop| = ₹10.00.
Quantity = risk ÷ risk per share, rounded down = 500.
Risk-reward = reward per share ÷ risk per share = 3.00; break-even win rate = 1 ÷ (1 + 3.00) = 25.0%.

A stop-loss is not guaranteed: fast markets can fill you worse.
Higher risk-reward lets you be wrong more often, but only if targets are realistic.
Add brokerage and taxes to your numbers for a truer picture.

Quantity = floor(account × risk% ÷ |entry − stop|). Risk-reward R = |target − entry| ÷ |entry − stop|. Break-even win rate = 1 ÷ (1 + R), the win probability at which wins × R equals losses × 1. Expected result = (win rate × R − (1 − win rate)) × money at risk. Standard risk-management arithmetic; no market data or rates are used, so nothing is date-dependent. SEBI's studies of individual F&O traders found most lose money, which is why risk limits matter.
